Ever since the impact of COVID-19, we all have been slow to reestablish a reliable third place between home and work. For 5 years now, many of us have just been going through the motions and need to shake things up. Through this article, we'll dive into some activities I have chosen as my escape from life and how you can discover your own!

Food

Eating is essential to life. You have to EAT! However, there are times when it is hard to decide what exactly to eat. I usually start by looking up "Restaurants near me" and thoroughly examining their Yelp reviews. When selecting a spot to eat, the reviews should highlight the taste, pricing, and service of the establishment. Variety is also important to satisfy everyone when going in a group. Here is a link to The Blvd, a restaurant I recently visited with a friend https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-blvd-lounge-and-grill-hammond-2. We knew this was a good pick because the reviews were good and the menu offers a bunch of different options. When going out in a group everyone it is is craving something different. One will say tacos! Another will say burgers! I say The Blvd!

Hobby

The easiest path to finding a place that fits your personality is through applying your hobbies to the outside world. If you like reading, join a book club that meets in a coffee shop. If you enjoy rollerskating, look for a skate park near you. If you're like me and have no idea what you are into, you can follow this link to Hobbes.com which gives a bunch of examples on where to start.

Self-Care

The whole point of a third place is having somewhere to rejuvenate. Self-care can look like

getting your hair or nails done, getting a massage, exercising, or attending a concert. There are many ways to take care of yourself that will get you out of the house. I recently began expanding my knowledge of different coffee blends and exploring shops throughout southern Louisiana. The overall experience gained from these explorations helped me to regain a sense of self.

Why Third Place?

Having somewhere outside of the house can contribute to self-growth you didn't know you needed. Getting stuck in the motions of everyday life will cause anyone to plateau. To have somewhere to go when you aren't quite ready to go home sounds worth it. The https://theblvdlounge.com/blvd.com will always be that for me!
